This is not an official United States of America Department of State website and the views and information presented are my own and do not represent the Fulbright Program or the Department of State.
this image however represents me perfectly
I am a Russian/American artist on a Fulbright to Bulgaria. I grew up in the Soviet Union and emigrated to the US when I was 16. I am interested in Eastern Europe and the transition it has experienced in the past 20 years. The margins of this transition are the subject of my deepest interest. I fell in love with Bulgaria when on an artists residency here in 2007. If the west is practical, the east is mystical and the magic of the east is deeply felt in the Bulgarian land and people.
I wanted быть и тут and there За столом с водкой луком and black bread Где все становятся kinder and gentler И любят more and more
Я в середине Американец And in the middle Русский патсан Я коммунист и shameless self promoter
I can't go back и не хочу But want to принадлежать Ты понимаеш?
Translation: I wanted to be here and there At the table with vodka, onions and black bread Where everyone becomes kinder and gentler And love more and more
I'm in the middle an American And at the heart a Russian kid I'm a communist and shameless self promoter
I can't go back And don't want to But want to belong You understand?
Awesome!
